League of Legends is a Multiplayer Online Battle Arena, or MOBA game. It’s a team-based 5-on-5 strategy game where you control one character with three different choices to battle against an opponent team of the same configuration. It is very simple. Your objective is to take down the base of your enemy before they do. There are two bases on each side of the map. There are 3 ways to gain access to the enemy’s base. The river runs through in the middle of the map, and there are turrets you can take control of that will help your team fight.
Although this explanation is simplified, it still describes the core of LoL. But I’d like tell you more.
How Does This Game Play?
What is it that makes LoL such a fun game? This is more than just the mechanics of the game. It’s not about how it plays as other games, but what makes this game stand apart and what makes it unique.
First of all, let’s say that the game has changed since its initial release as an “mod” of Warcraft 3. League of Legends was born in the following years, due to the addictive gameplay mechanics in this mod. The original creator of LoL has retired from the project. The rights were sold to Riot Games who currently runs League of Legends.
While MOBA games have been around for a while, this game is what brought them to the forefront. There are other MOBA games are available on market however none of them are as popular as LoL in terms of popularity or the contents offered.
A large portion of people who play League of Legends are familiar with the terms used in gaming. If you have ever dabbled in the FPS (First Person Shooter) game like Call of Duty , Counter-Strike or Halo You are already familiar with the terms employed in League of Legends. There’s no complicated controls, so anyone who has ever played an FPS game can understand LoL.
To help your character during battle, you can purchase items to aid your character in battle. To make your character more powerful, you can get levels and gold. Certain characters are more complicated than others. The game is constantly changing which means that the characters you play today may be different tomorrow (because Riot Games releases new content every couple of weeks).
The distinctiveness of LoL lies in “Riot Points.” Riot Points allow you to buy items for your account such as skins (different models for your character), boosts that will assist you in increasing your level faster, as well as visual enhancements for your character’s spells. If you die in League of Legends, it takes time to replenish the health and mana levels so that you are able to get back into battle. Your friends have to cover for your absence while you’re away.
If they don’t, it’s more difficult to succeed because you are at a disadvantage without your team.
To master this game, you must work in a team with a plan and be adept at communicating your ideas. It can be played at a leisurely pace between friends, however it takes a professional’s mind to consider the most effective possible moves for victory.
